Bega Valley Community Transport Service (BVCTS) is presently funded through the Federal Governments’ Department of Health (DoH), for transport of people who are frail/aged and living in their own homes. We also receive some funding from Transport for NSW (TfNSW, State Government), to transport people who meet the criteria for being transport disadvantaged. Clients under 65, living with a disability are currently participating in the roll out of the NDIS scheme. It is a door to door service designed to meet transport needs for funding target group clients in the Bega Valley Shire.
If you do not qualify under our funding criteria, but are transport disadvantaged, please phone us as we may be able to help or offer another transport option.
|Please note, drivers are NOT permitted to enter your home, even if you invite them in.|
The Bega Valley Shire
The Bega Valley Shire is located at the south-eastern extremity of NSW approximately half way between Sydney and Melbourne.
The Shire’s coast extends from just north of Bermagui to Cape Howe and the Victorian border in the south. This section of coastline is known as the Sapphire Coast. The Shire also embraces the Great Dividing Range inland, which shelters rolling hills, forests, rivers, lakes, dams and it is also home to the famous Bega cheese. The Shire covers an area of 6,052 square kilometres and has a population of approximately 31,060 people, which swells in the summer months, as the Sapphire Coast plays host to thousands of tourists who flock to the region for sun, sand and sea.
While there are pretty coastal towns and tiny inland hamlets, Bega, Bermagui, Merimbula and Eden are the main commercial centres.
